Sorry it has been so long since my last post! Life in Tinsel Town is a lot more fast-paced that I ever remembered it being!
I am really looking forward to Christmas so I can go visit my family up in Washington and give my niece and nephew their bi-yearly haircuts by Aunt Mimi!
I thought I would share with everybody a few things I came across since I have been on here last:
This past weekend I had to go to my grandmother’s funeral (sad, I know) and I wanted to bring pictures of the family with me to give to all my aunts and uncles. Memories are so important, especially now that it feels like I am running out of time with my older relatives! But all I had were film pictures (and I didnt have any copies, and I am not about to give away my originals!). I literally had a forehead slapping moment! One of my good friends works for a company called ScanDigital, and they specialize in photo scanning services for a totally reasonable rate.
The best part is that they are located just a few blocks away from my work, so I just scooted over there on my lunch break and handed my photo album right over. For those of you who dont have a friend that works there, though, you can send in entire albums, sticky piles of old photos, tired old VHS tapes, slides and tons more. You print your shipping label right off the website, and you’re ready to go.
ScanDigital saved the day, I really mean it. I brought in CDs of all my favorite family photos and any picture I could find of my grandma (she wasn’t a fan of having her picture taken), and they were a huge hit.
Also, I decided that in my quest to be a better inhabitant of this earth, I should do my part to save the earth. This not only includes doing better at recycling (hey, this is LA. Recycling just isn’t our thing…), but also doing my part to reduce waste and not contribute tons and tons to landfills. So since I just have all these old cell phones lying around (cause I’m a material girl, living in a material world) I decided to donate my cell phones to Flipswap.com.
Ok, donate is probably the wrong word. They pay you for your cell phone if it is in good enough condition to be reused. And if its not, then they recycle it the proper way and then plant a tree in your honor. That’s sweet! So I am getting paid $108.75 for my dirty old Sidekick Lx, and $84.50 for my old G1. I like trendy phones, noticing a pattern? I shipped them in for free, I am waiting on my check right now, and am feeling weightless from the lack of my Jewish guilt complex!
My Next Goal:Convincing my roommates to let me get backyard chickens! Free eggs for life!
