My 2 year old daughter’s hair is always hanging in her face, but she wont let me put clips in. I don’t want to give her bangs. What should I do?
There is an easy solution to this problem: The Topsi-Tail!
That probably sounds ridiculous, but the topsi-tail is one of the most efficient and useful tools in my arsenal. It is a very simple 4-step ponytail that is absolutely adorable, easy to do, and the very best way to keep stubborn hair out of a busy toddler’s face without her being able to remove it herself.
What You Will Need:
-Ouchless Rubber bands
-Quick Hands.

Step One

Step Two
Step One: This maneuver is best done while your wiggly child is distracted by something, like eating, playing, bathing, or watching TV. Very lightly in your hands (without pulling too hard, or they will know what you’re up to!) pull all the hair that falls into her face up and tie it into a very loose ponytail on the top of her head. You need the rubber band to be 1-2 inches from her scalp (the shorter the hair, obviously the closer to the scalp you will probably need it to be).
Step Two: Again, lightly, create a hole underneath the rubber band in the hair.

Step Four

Step Three
Step Three: Flip the tail end of her pony through the hole on the side closest to her face.
Step Four: Tighten her ponytail the same way you would tighten your own, by splitting the tail in half and pulling in opposite directions.
The faster you are at this maneuver, the better. And the more you do it, the quicker you can get. I can put one in successfully and efficiently on a squirmy girl in under five seconds. The best part is that you don’t have to redo this every day. A topsi-tail can be left in the hair for a few days, and you can shampoo around it in the tub once. It’s also great because the rubber band hides inside of the twisted hair, so her little fingers cant pull it out herself.
OH!!! I am *SO* trying this today!!! Thanks
I hope it works for you! The topsi-tail has never done me wrong
Oh my goodness!!! I am totally trying this on my 18 month old as soon as she gets up from her nap…the hair on top of her head grows straight down her face and touches her nose at this point and she will not leave in bands, clippies, nothing! I really hope this works because I am so tired of people telling me to give her a hair cut
!!!! THANKS!
Step One is what we called “Sprout.” I never thought to turn it through like that though. One caution, however, with very fine baby hair: if you tighten the rubberband by pulling on the hair, it will break, and you will have very many tiny hairs sticking straight up!
